Frequently Asked Questions

Compression Socks

What are compression stockings for?
Compression socks help to improve circulation, preventing varicose veins, swelling, circulatory deficiencies, tiredness and leg pains.

By gently and gradually squeezing the legs, they produce a noticeable improvement in venous return, helping the veins to return to their initial position, so that the blood circulates fluidly upwards, preventing the blood from concentrating in the lower legs due to gravity.

How long do Venasense compression socks last?
Venasense compression socks last between 6 and 12 months. Depending on how they are cared for.

How do I know which compression stockings to wear?
It is important to ask your doctor which compression you should use. Venasense manages two types of compression for socks.

Medium compression 15-20 mmhg:
They are used preventively and therapeutically, to reduce varicose veins, reduce pain, and swelling in the legs, they are the compression socks recommended for long trips or flights or when people stay a long time in the same position (either sitting or standing).
High compression 20-30 mmhg:
These are used therapeutically for vascular problems. It is important to see a specialist who will prescribe these high gradient socks.

What size socks should I wear?
Sizes:

8-10: Woman with shoe size between 35 and 37.5.
9-11: Women's shoe size 37.5 to 40.
10-12: Men's shoe size 38-42.
11-13: Men's shoe size 42-45.

Note: If you feel your leg is too thick, we recommend choosing a larger size than you normally wear.

What does Mm/Hg mean?
It is a unit of measurement used to measure blood pressure.

Mm/Hg is an abbreviation for Millimeters (Mm) of Mercury (Hg).

What does graduated compression mean?
Graduated compression stockings help improve circulation by applying stronger pressure on the lower leg and feet, and softer pressure on the upper leg near the knee. This happens in a gradual, tapered fashion, preventing varicose veins, swelling, circulatory deficiencies, fatigue and leg pain.
